After a lengthy 15 hr flt via Honolulu, my son arrived boot camp Thurs 09JAN. With much grief, I missed The Call from boot camp.. He did call on arrival at ORD after checking in at the USO and so glad he made it safe and on time but I was so disappointed that I wasn't at home for the official call from him when he arrived boot camp. Needless to say, all I could do was thank the Good Lord that he was able to call from the airport. I resigned to just wait for The Box and form letter and then get the letters rolling. Well, the phone rang on a Monday morning (Sunday 12JAN Great Lakes time) and it was him! ..."Hi Dad, just want to say I'm here and ok"... Seemed like only a few seconds but it was the greatest phone call ever! Don't know if it was protocol to make sure each recruit confirms the first call but so glad he was given another opportunity to get through. Just wanted to post this for those who may miss the first call. Your recruit may just call again.

Greetings Les,
My son arrived on the 14th. We got his call from the Airport, as well as the one stating, "I have arrived, and I need to go!" LOL
I don't know if our sons will be on the same "ship", but let's stay in touch till we find out!

Right on Jeff!
Haven't received the box yet and anxiously waiting for the form letter. Will update you as soon as I get it. Wishing the best for the boys and all the recent arrivals.
Cheers!
Les
Hi Jeff,
He's in Ship 2 Div 917 PIR 07MAR. That's pretty much 8 weeks from his arrival at BC. I thought P-Week didn't count and was anticipating PIR 14MAR. Did you get yours yet?

Hi Jeff,
Got a call yesterday from my son advising that his wisdom teeth were pulled and was actually given a couple days light duty. Says his PIR 07MAR is still the same. I learned that he actually could have been PIR 14MAR but was pulled out of line on arrival when asked if anyone had performance/band/drill experience and directed to the 900 Div in a group that arrived a few days earlier. Sounds like they needed slots to be filled.. In any event, looks like the Navy is really taking care of the boys with the necessary dental work. All the best to your son!
