Son is currently in DEP waiting on 10 August entry date.
He got a call from the Navy today informing him that he would likely be leaving for RTC early - no dates, details or anything.....
All I could offer was that he needed to get in touch with his recruiter ASAP and see if they can determine what the details are as he has a TON of loose ends to tie up if this is near term entry vs in August.
Anything else he can do to determine what the details are or are we just at the mercy of the Navy?
Related question: Is there anything mom & I can/should take care of prior to him going in - like Power of Attorney, etc.. Andy is single, no dependents and pretty free flowing. Want to do a POA and so that I can help him manage funds between his credit union and Edward Jones investments account, pay extraneous bills (insurance, etc) that are sure to crop up while he is at RTC and beyond.
Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom and this site - we have all learned so much from reading about others experiences that I am feeling confoident that Andy is going to be successful in this new path he has chosen.

this is not uncommon...and your recruiter should have details, but it could mean he is leaving as early as next week! Financial POA is important if he has bills and other obligations.....
refer to this discussion re POA: http://www.navydads.com/group/bootcamp/forum/topics/power-of-attorney
a lot of those will be handled in Boot Camp , but here are some general forms: http://www.navydads.com/page/legal-forms-for-bootcamp
Leaving like next week is what I am afraid of - thanks for the reply.

Remember this phrase: Needs of the Navy!!!! You'll come to love and hate those words!!!!!!!!
False alarm. Someone else got the rec in before Andy. Back to 10 August for now.
Son is a bit nervous because his recruiter now wants to go have lunch with him tomorrow. Told him not to worry because all his ducks are lined up and recruiter probably just wants to make sure that this small roller coaster didn't spook him (he is set for the Nuke program).
