Navy Dads

My son is at boot camp and graduating 10/28.  My son's form letter went to his Dad.  I have tried several times to get a copy of the letter, but I have been unsuccessful.  I have booked hotel/flight/car (after reading various things on the internet.)  My concern is that I just read the parking pass is part of a download with a password in the letter.

I have contacted my son's recruiter but it doesn't sound like he has access to the letter.  Any help would be appreciated.  ...at this point, I'm hoping it all works out.  :\

We always suggest folks take a shuttle or taxi to PIR and avoid the parking/traffic mess....as an option you might consider parking in the METRA lot adjacent to RTC...believe the parking fee is low and the walk is perhaps 1/4 mile to PIR.

Park at the METRA lot for $2 and walk in. It's much quicker and you can drive around the long line to get in.

You can also contact John (Sarge) Spadaro at 847-212-0246. He has an event that he holds the night before graduation that is great and will give you lots of insight into PIR. He also offers transportation from the airport to your hotel and to PIR as a package. We went to the event when my son graduated last Thanksgiving and it was great. We also used Sarge to get to PIR and to and from the airport.
Thank you ALL so much. I have been fumbling around a bit trying to figure out what to do--while waiting to be accepted by the Navy Moms website. So thankful I found this!

Unfortunately, my flight doesn't get in until 8 so probably can't get to the even that night. I might try and call the airline and see if they will work with me, but not overly hopeful. :)

I believe my son is still on track to go to San Antonio. Any info that anybody knows on when they leave....or dependent on several things, I'm sure. :)

Thanks again!!

Kristin

If his A-school is outside of Great Lakes, it's about 98% sure he will fly out Saturday (unless his PIR is on Thanksgiving Week).  You can meet him at the airport and if you check in with him you can get a pass to go thru security and spend possibly a number of hours with him at the gate.

Awesome!  Thank you!   I'm thinking that nothing has changed, as I haven't heard anything different.  He is supposed to be a Hospital Corpsman, and I believe that A-school is at Ft. Sam.

Thank you!

Kristin
