Navy Dads

My son Drew is in Division 937 graduating on July 31st. I got a letter from him last week that he would hopefully call me Friday if his division did well during hell week. No call to me or his mom, so who knows how well they did! He is going to Nuclear School in Goose Creek after graduation from boot camp. Does anyone else have a sailor who is going to Nuclear School after graduation? I'd like to know if we are going to be able to spend any time with him after graduation or if he is grad and go. Thanks!

My son graduated on June 26th and, though he is not going nuke, he had several friends who did. They shipped out on Tuesday, July 2nd, which was a good four days (almost) from their PIR. We also thought we'd get a call and it finally came, while we were driving from Midway airport up to the hotel near the base on Thursday the day before graduation. He had just finished Battle Stations. So, don't worry. You will have from the end of graduation (about 1030-1100 Friday) until about 1900 or 2100 (depending on duty section) when they have to muster back in on Friday evening. You can then pick him up again on Saturday and Sunday mornings around 0800 at the chapel. He will know when he has to be back in. Enjoy! My son is waiting on school (Advanced Electronics) towards eventual Fire Control (FC) school. It's all about money and a lot of men and women are on "hold" for their school. Be proud!
