Navy Dads

Thought I would start a chat about this class, as the boy is currently in this group. Just a spot to swap stories and backgrounds of the men, families and adventures of this class. Please no names and try to stay away from discussing time lines of Phases or course completions, or detailed descriptions of training evolutions as trying to keep OPSEC in mind.

Hi John, As you know my son is there also. He is very glad to be back in California, even though it's Southern Ca. I'm going to pick him up on Christmas leave so we can have a 7 hour chat on the way home. Who am I kidding... He will no doubt sleep all the way... I'm hoping for a call this evening. Everytime I call him, he is super busy with inspections, etc or in the middle of a movie :) Hopefully I can check out the Base while I'm there. I'll PM you on e-mail with some Q&A's

Jim
John, hope you don't mind if I join your Group. My Grandson graduated SQT273 a couple of months ago. If anyone has questions public or private let me know and I will try to help. All of Class 281 is in my thoughts, I have been following them on the N4M site also.

HooYah to Class 281.
Happy to have you!! you have already provided me with some good intel on what to expect.

Sounds Good Jim, I guess they hit a little snag on departure the other day. I'm looking forward to picking the boy up from the airport and chatting him up, although I'm sure sleep and food will be his priority. Hope he is ready for the Low temps up here, this morning it was 1 degree when I got up, quite a difference from Southern Cal.

Hello gentlemen! This Class 281 discussion group will help me "bridge the gap" between my two sons. My oldest is in Class 277 (he finished BUD/S in Oct, just completed Jump School, and is on track to graduate SQT in the Spring); my youngest is in NSW DEP right now and will report to Great Lakes in Aug (I'm assuming he'll begin BUD/S at about this time in late 2010). John, please keep us updated on your son's progress -- we're all in this together! Go SEALs!
Just got off the phone with my son. He sounds really great, finally over his 5-6 week cold. He says they are working them over pretty good. Says 3 guys DOR'd today. He also agreed there was a liberty hicup, but it didn't effect him. He is looking to come home as planned. HooYah....
Glad to see GP273 & Jerry M on board
Welcome aboard Jerry, Glad to have ya!!!

I had heard about the three DORs, apparently one came during the swim today. The phrase I keep hearing is "Dad, it's getting pretty Frickin Real down here." Apparently the Calisthenics today was pretty brutal too and there was a news crew out filming.

Jerry, he will enjoy SQT except maybe the Alaska part. I had to delete my first post had the wrong name listed.
Jerry, please tell your son "May you never see that bell, or Old Misery again!" for me.

HooYah SQT277
Jim, Glad your son is over his cold. Keep us posted on his progress!

John (and Jim), My son from Class 277 has this advice for BUD/S -- especially for Indoc, Phase 1, and Hell Week: Just show up, put out, and DON'T quit!
