My son Alex is scheduled to report to OCS June 20.  Is there a way to find out his class number ahead of time?  We have everything else we need to compose his mail address.

Hi. My son graduated OCS over a year ago now, but it seems like yesterday. He is wrapping up his first phase of flight training now. Make sure you plan ahead for graduation day...Newport is really nice in the summer. The graduation dinner is fun for everyone, and the change in your new Ensign will be amazing!
My daughter is 16-10; graduates this Friday (we catch a flight to RI in just a few hours). I sent her a note to ask. (You'll probably get an answer before I do.)
We've arrived at Newport. My daughter says the next class starting Sunday, June 20, 2010, is 20-10 (very easy to remember).

God's blessings on you and especially Alex. The training is tough, but looks like it brings out the best in our loved ones. We found the at home adjustments hard, because she'd never been away from home (except two weeks at sumemr camp), but we know it it worth it.
Thanks for the info. That should give us what we need to get started. And congratulations on raising a fine daughter. Thanks especially for taking time on your trip to reply.

Perhaps we should think of our boy as being away at a long summer camp!

Thanks, we plan to go to the graduation. Congratulations on your son; I hope all goes well for all.

My son William is in the same OCS class. I already wrote to him and asked whether he met your son. I'm guessing so, since the classes are small. I sent him a 10 day weather forecast to let him know it's not going to get too hot..... yet.
He has a younger sister in the Army National Guard. She spent a summer down at Ft. Jackson doing basic training, so I've been through this. I sent a lot of letters of encouragement, but they have little or no chance to respond.
Bill,

Alex got to call home for five minutes Sunday evening, and confirmed his class is "20-10A," with 42 students in A and about the same in the other group.

He has probably heard enough hot weather stories from his grandfather, who fought in the jungles of the Pacific islands in WWII. Coming from the west, though, he is not used to the humidity, but we spent a week in central Florida in May that may have helped him.

I, too, had a little sister in the National Guard. She ended up in Desert Storm, which caused us unlimited worry while she was over there, especially when the scud hit the mess tent at her base. Now that sister has one son and one daughter in the Navy, and the other adult son in the Army. The Army one has had one tour in Iraq and is now preparing for deployment to Afghanistan.

I wish William, his sister and you all the best.
William called me briefly on Monday night, but didn't say what group he was in. He told me on Saturday before he left that he was in the 20-10 class, so I knew that in advance, but I'll have to get the scoop from him on which class he's in.

We live in eastern PA and the temperature is getting up into the low 90's with moderate humidity for the next few days. I think he was concerned that he'd be facing the same. It looks like they tend to be a good 10-15 degrees cooler up there, which is a good thing.

Best wishes to you and yours.
My son John also started on 6-20-10. We got the brief Sunday night call but failed to ask what his class number will be. Thanks to this group I find he may be in 20-10A or 20-10B.
Is the mailing address (assuming we find the correct class #)
OC (Name)
Officer Candidate School
Class XX-XX
Officer Training Command Newport
291 Kollmeyer St
Newport, RI 02841-1641

We are from Pensacola Fl. so I am sure he is enjoying the milder temps and humidity.
Hello to all and thanks for the info!
TM
That address is what I have been using with 20-10 for the class. I haven't added an "A" or "B" yet and am not sure if that is necessary.
Next letter to my son, I'll ask him if he's met John. I've learned over the years that one of the best ways to amaze your kids is to ask them questions like that. The response is always the same, "How the heck did you know that?"
Bill
We read an email from John last night. Our account logged it in about 1:45, but we didn't get a chance to see it until late last night. It was fairly short. He said he hoped we were all well and stated "Life here is too ridiculous to explain in a simple email" he went on to say "don't be in a hurry to reply to this email because we won't be able to use computers much for a while". He did say that he was in class 20-10-B. Hopefully the few other letters we already sent will find there way to him. John is NUPOC and will go to SWO school next(We think). I will also ask him if he knows William!
Tks for the reply
Tom
Quick question
Does anyone know if it's permitted to send regular 3x5 photos along with the letters?
Tks
Prayers and best wishes to everyones LO's
