I'm second generation AT and second generation private sector IT professional with a degree in computer science. Many of the first generation of private sector IT professionals came from the Navy AT and ET ratings. Army, Air Force and Marines provided many of the best as well.

Bob, thanks so much! I hope you guys enjoy Pensacola and spending time with your sailor at Thanksgiving! Being with him is all that matters....the location is merely incidental!

Congrats again, Bill! Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your son! We will be having Thanksgiving dinner in the galley at NAS with our son and the rest of the sailors and families. Looking forward to it!

Believe me I have thought about that it light of the disappointment that we shared in his surface station assignment. This is the silver lining to that gray cloud. He may actually be home at Christmas as well if Norfolk or at least his IT group is on stand down. So we will enjoy this time even more knowing one day when he is deployed with the Fleet these holidays will not be quite the same!

Tomorrow my son graduates from A school. He received his airline ticket today and will be home tomorrow night. After 7 months away from home, what an incredible couple of weeks coming up! With Thanksgiving coming up next Thursday, I bet you can't guess what will be near the top of the list of things I am thankful for!!

That one I don't know. He'll need to be on the ball in getting his command the info during check in.

Thanks Jared! This is good to know. I wonder if they will put him in PO Indoc right away when he arrives at Norfolk?

Bill,

One of my IT3's just went through this process, and we got him promoted as soon as he was through PO Indoc. My son's rate (AT) does not offer the accelerated advancement.
