Thanks for the information guys! I have been super busy and not really keeping up on the threads here. We are down to 3 weeks from tomorrow. I will drive him to the recruiter's office and they will transport him to MEPS, then from MEPS to BC. So, if I am calculating it correctly, BC starts July 17th, from there, Pensacola approx. Sept. 10th, for approx. 24 weeks, which would be mid-Feb of 2014?

I thought I read somewhere IT "A" school was 14 weeks. Either way, we are super excited for him and he cannot wait to leave.

Andrew just ran a 4-mile run around the lake here in honor of the Navy Seal, Michael Murphy. They have it every year. Great cause. I believe he ran an average of 7:50 a mile.

Thanks again!

Bob

Hello; my son is at boot camp with a PIR by end of August. After that, he will be at Pensacola for his A school. How long is the school? are they allow to have their own cars while in a school?

@ Charles (Bill) He'll start accruing leave at the rate of 2.5 days per month when he goes into boot camp. That would put him at 15 days about the end on Nov. Depending on when he Graduates IT A School, he could easily have that time to use. my advice is to carefully use the leave time and build up a reserve for emergencies. This way he won't go "into the hole" as far as leave is concerned.

Bob, I just found this group! My son started boot on 1 May. His PIR is 28 June. He is then going to IT A school in Pensacola. I believe he only gets liberty on that Friday after PIR up to 22:00. Then he ships out on 29 June....just not sure of the time. Then after A school I understand they accumulate 2 weeks of leave.

Bob T when my son went to Pcola he left to a school right after boot. Once he is done with a school he should be able to come home for a bit.

Hello everyone! My son will heading off to boot camp in July and then is scheduled to head down to Pensacola for IT school. Does anyone know if he will be able to come home to visit after he completes A-School, or does he ship right after? I am thinking he goes to A-School straight from boot camp, but not sure what happens after that.

Thanks!
