Any Navy Dads out there with someone in OCS Class 01-13? My son Jake is in this class, Foxtrot Company. I'm very proud of him and ALL the Officer Candidates.

Yes I got a email today from him saying they were setting up his email account and also a letter. He said he has to get his wisdom teeth removed in week 9. Things are a little better, but its still very stressfull. Hes also lost his voice due to the yelling. He doesnt know when he will be able to call but will write us soon. So good to hear from him. I think ive read the letter over a million times. Thanks for asking. how are your boys doing?

Thanks! As soon as i hear something I will let you guys know. I know he has some phone cards and stamps with him but he might not have access to them yet so i will attach one in the letter i send him. Very sweet of your son to keep you letters.

I will check on facebook as well. Thank you for your advice. Its just hard not being able to talk to him and encouraging him.

My son just graduated this last friday from OCS class 02-12, honor class. Was a wonderful experience at the graduation, went and ate at the chowhall with our son the morning of graduation, was too cold out to see them get destroyed by their Gunny lol.. but the slideshow at graduation was fun to see. Meeting the staff was a proud moment for me allowing me an opportunity to thank them for their hard work molding our young Naval Ensigns. Watching my sons first salute was a wonderful moment, i only wish my father had been alive to give it to share this with him, a real decorated hero. Those who have sons and daughters there, dont worry about them, they are in great and caring hands, and they will come out changed men and women that you can be unbelievably proud of. Go Navy.

Hi all,
My son, Aaron, is starting ocs in August. I thought I had seen a forum long ago that would give info during and about the individual class. Is Alzheimer's setting in or is there such a thing?

Son came in on BDCP for Inteligence. Any suggestions for him or us for his upcoming class? Thank you in advance.

Tim, It was great meeting you and your family @ OCS grad. Best of luck to Jesse in Pensacola.

Just a word of advice to any parents coming to the next grad class at Newport. Plan your flights to arrive well BEFORE sunset. We did, but because of cancelled flights in our itinerary we didn't arrive until late after dark and the FOG on the coast and one-way streets of Newport made it very difficult to navigate to our hotel...and this is from a guy who's piloted a small aircraft on instruments from Beverly, MA to New Mexico without missing a checkpoint on the way. Fog has a way of disorienting even the best of drivers.

Kristin is still in Newport starting the SWOS (surface warfare) and then will report to Dam Neck, VA for COMM/Crypto liaison school and reports to her ship sometime later.

Tim Miller,

I'm sending an excerpt from my daughter's email confirming your son, Jeff, is in her class. You can see she thinks pretty highly of him and suspects you are not aware of all his credits. Hope this makes your day.

Charlie and Delta merged a week ago when we became Candidate Officers, we are all just Class 09-11.  But yeah, Jesse Miller has been in Charlie with me and there is another Miller from Delta.  Jesse Miller has been an outstanding candidate.  He had one of the top billets (Charlie Adjutant) when we were officer candidates and he still managed to excel in physical fitness, academics, and military training, earning him the "snowflake award" which is very rare as I understand it.  Now he is Regimental Commander and if he had any more bars on his collar, well... he'd need a much bigger collar.  Probably Jesse doesn't like to brag about these things so his dad might not know... but he can be very proud of his son.  Anyway even though I have nothing but good things to say about him... I still feel kind of dirty talking behind another candidate's back.  He may not want this stuff publicized.

I want to meet THIS GUY, Tim!

Tim,

My daughter, Kristin, is in 09-11 Charlie company. I believe they just got the streamer for the drill competition and they are so proud that they will be flying it on their Guidon in the ceremonies. I understand their DI who is USMC wears a smile now after many weeks of scowling at them to get them in shape. Hope to see you in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the quick reply.
