Welcome Joe! I hope everyone gets out to do something fun this weekend. Weather in central Oklahoma has been feeling good since dropping from the 100's.

I think his situation must be similar to when people have walking pneumonia. They keep working, saying 'I'm fine'. I'm not questioning or criticizing anyone, just sharing that common mom concern. When our 'kids' are ill, we are all over it. I've always been the nurse for my children, and feeling helpless over an illness is terribly frustrating. That's part of letting go I suppose.

Can anybody answer this question????? What job does Drew do that is so important that he has to go to work so ill that he has to be hooked up to IVs ea night to replenish his fluids b/c he's dehydrated???? No matter where they are or what they are doing.... That is rediculous.... I'm not critiziing him or his mom.... I'm critizing his command.... Good Lord...

My son Drew, who is on cruise, has evidently been working while ill for weeks. They hook him up to an IV each night to replenish his fluids. I think they discovered just how sick he was when his speech was slurred from dehydration. Tell me THAT doesn't worry a mom. Of course I only hear sketchy spots of this from my older daughter's emails. He doesn't want his mom to worry. HA HA I'm sure he'll be okay, but it's hard when they are so far away.

Thanks for your help.
I haven't been on because I'm so disapointed with the Navy Cancelling the Tiger
Cruise because of a few Sailor coming down with what they think is the Swine Flu......

Usually there is a ship to shore rotation..it can be as short as 3 years and as long as five...it kind of falls under the "needs of the Navy"..I know my son is hoping he gets to teach at nuke school for his shore rotation. Some go and do recruiting duty, some teach at Great Lakes...just depends on their rate.

With the retention rates being what they are right now, billets are not opening up. To change duty stations, there has to be a billet available and if one is not avaiable then all else (quals, evals, etc.) does not mattrer much.
