Some of us have been lucky enough to experience either a Tiger or Family Day Cruise. Whether you are in the planning stages for one or hoping to sail with your Sailor when they return from deployment. Share your hints and experiences here--- but always remember, posting port dates or too many details about upcoming events can pose a security risk....so use good judgment about what you post here!

I was trying to find one close to the base. Is there more than one base on Oahu?
I don't know where you are meeting the boat, but searching internet will commonly tell you how close they are to the airport. Your sailor can tell you where you are going to meet up....for my cruise we all met at the USO at the Jacksonville airport to catch the buses to Mayport......
Okay, I heard from my Sailor and have booked my flight out. Is there a way to know which hotels are close to where we get on the ship?
When the Carl Vinson was in port, the navy lodge was not an option to the Vinson personnel. The Fort Derussy hotel required reservations 6 months ahead.
the issue...the sailors are at sea so making reservations.....?
The Navy Lodge on Ford Island is awesome, near the base and all the memorials and museums at Pearl.
We recently stayed at the Ramada Waikiki when the Carl Vision was in port in June. It was a nice property (close to restaurants) and the price was reasonable.
I would stay at the Ramada again and would recommend it to visiting tigers.
We are booked at Park Shore Waikiki. We thought it was reasonable price for the location and recommended to us thru our travel agent. Just depends on how much you want to spend and how many nights you will be staying. This hotel allows you 72 hours to cancel prior to check in w/o penalty and also only charges your credit card for a night's deposit when you book the room.
Hale Koa has a luau Thurs nights and fireworks Friday nights. 1 block from Hilton. -Nancy
