Tiger or Family Day Cruises

Some of us have been lucky enough to experience either a Tiger or Family Day Cruise. Whether you are in the planning stages for one or hoping to sail with your Sailor when they return from deployment. Share your hints and experiences here---
but always remember, posting port dates or too many details about upcoming events can pose a security risk....so use good judgment about what you post here!

Hi everyone... My daughter just deployed on the 31st (her first tour) .aborad the USS Nimitz. I would love to get on the Tiger Cruise when they come home, can anyone tell me what steps you need to take to apply or be selected for the cruise. Thanks

Hello everyone... I am planning on flying to San Diego (early next year) picking up my 10 year old grandson, flying on to Hawaii and coming back to San Diego with my son-in law on his ship. Having been in the Navy in the late 60's and early 70's, this is quite exciting!!! What all does one have to do prior to getting on board for the Tiger Cruise back to San Diego?

Hi all! I have been on two Tiger Cruises on the USS Nassau and would be glad to answer any questions for any new Tigers. Coming into port at Naval Station Norfolk on deck with my son as all the sailors man the rails is one of the coolest things I have ever done. If you have a chance to do this, do it and bring your hankie!!

I've got some business cards that I developed-- NavyDads mission and logo on the front and the Sailor's Creed on the back that I did on Publisher. if I get a chance I'll print more and try to fit a bunch in...if someone asks they can put it their shirt pocket or wallet...small and to the point. I havn't had time to do much else due to work hours and the like. Trying to find the correct avenue to spread the word...we're getting there...........

I heard there is supposed to be around 1200 Tigers on the cruise, I don't know if that's accurate or not, but I sure it's somewhere close. Looking at the few members that are on this group and the few that are on the TR's group it's surprisingly small. We definitely have to get the word out about Navy Dads, the unfortunate part about it is we only will have two days to do it in. Hopefully our shirts help out, any other thoughts?

I keep expecting David to call but nothing yet. Just some emails. The last time he called he was in Dubia and I was in a meeting, I told everyone they would have to put everything on hold until I finished the call, they all understood especially when I told them who was calling and where from.
