Some of us have been lucky enough to experience either a Tiger or Family Day Cruise. Whether you are in the planning stages for one or hoping to sail with your Sailor when they return from deployment. Share your hints and experiences here--- but always remember, posting port dates or too many details about upcoming events can pose a security risk....so use good judgment about what you post here!

Hi Chuck, I want to go on the USS Bush Tiger Cruise too. So if you hear anything or find ouot any info, please share it. It seems everything is keep a big secret until its to late to make plans. My son never told me about any of the other events either. I would have loved to go to them but he said it wasn't a big deal. I told him it was a big deal to me. I hope he will tell me when the Tiger Cruise is because I live in California and would need to fly there in time to do it. The Navy never gives us any information about anything.... It's very frustrating for parents and loved one. All we can do is hope someone will let us know.
My wife and I are planning to do the TC for USS H.W. Bush this fall. Since it is still a few months away we have not had any contact about it yet. I assume we will meet the ship at Mayport, and would appreciate any info on food, lodging, transportation, near by attractions and any other that may be helpful. We are going to try to get there a day or two early. Thank you in advance, Chuck
I also took motion sickness meds with me, but didn't need them- granted I was on a carrier, but we had some serious weather the first night and would think some people might have gotten ill. When we got back to land 2 1/2 days later though it was impossible to walk a straight line on land! I swore the streets were moving! That took a couple of days to settle down!!!
Paul and Rick, thank you for your comments.
Rick, my son will be renting a car from a rental facility on the base. With his military discounts it is going to costs about $110-$120 for the 2 1/2 days we will be needing it. I will be taking a shuttle from the Airport to our hotel which is only $15. Down side is that our hotel charges $35 a day additional fees for valet parking which we have to use. So we gain some and lose some, but it will be nice having our own transportation available for our leisure.
We've made reservations to attend a catamaran cruise and a luau. And, also plan to tour the Arizona Memorial and the Missouri. My son will be having his going away party with his shipmates while we're in Hawaii as well because he departs from this Command upon their return to home port in San Diego. It's going to be a whirlwind trip for sure, but most certainly a lot of fun!!
Oh, I have sickness meds already on my list of things to take just in case there is a period I will need it, lol. Don't think I will, but going prepared just in case!!
Paige I had a fantastic time with my son and his fellow shipmates in Hawaii before the TC, The only downside was the cost of taxis..I spent about $150.00 in a day and a half..ouch! The TC was a great expierence, one that I will never forget. Have fun, take some Ibuprofen and pepto bismol and you will be set!
that is super Paige....it is an experience unlike any other you have ever done!
I've patiently been waiting for my opportunity to attend a Tiger Cruise on my son's ship the USS Howard. I was not able to attend the last one, but am thrilled I will be able to attend this one coming up very soon. The ship will have a little more time in port than usual, so my son and I have plans to make the best of our time in Hawaii.
USS Boxer Tiger Cruise was a fantastic expierence. So proud of all the men and women that I met while on the cruise.
Just got back from the USS Boxer Tiger Cruise! Hats off to the entire crew of the USS Boxer. Job well done! Bravo Zulu!
Same here anyone signed up for the USS Boxer Tiger cruise?
