Nice to see other families are getting phone calls.
Talked to my son for a short time, had to pass the phone to mom, brother and then myself... He stated that all is well and that he misses his wife. (newlywed's). I follow the Stennis facebook page, they post alot of information to try and keep us families informed.
Mitch, I can totally relate to how your wife feels. It must be a mom thing to want to hear their voice. :)
I'm good with our facebook conversations. It is my wife that is stressing. Looks like she might miss out at this point though.
Mitch, I hope you get your call soon.
I did talk with my son yesterday, but it was only for 3 minutes and 28 seconds, yes, I did check my phone, lol. He was borrowing a buddy's phone, so didn't want to use much of his time. But it was the best 3 minutes I have had in a long time. :) He sounded happy and rested. He said that they had gone snorkeling and the boat ride to the island was awesome. He wasn't too impressed with snorkeling, though, said it was boring, lol.
My wife is still waiting to hear from our sailor. Last deployment he had a prepaid phone that he could use to call.
richard, that's great! I'm glad that you got to talk to your son.
I'm still waiting for a call, but I do know that my son went to have his first legal beer, as he posted a picture on his FB. He is 20, so was happy when he figured out that he would be able to drink while away, lol.
Good morning all. Got a phone call from my Son this morning from Malaysia. The City they are anchored at I have never heard of. Son said this is the first CVN to ever visit there and so far everyone has been very friendly. Hope a good safe liberty is had by all. Sure was great to hear his voice.
Woohoo! Even though he is half a world away, I'm just happy that are on land for awhile. I can't wait for a phone call.
