My daughter is in A school in Pensacola and just found out today that upon graduation she will be assigned to the Stennis. I have been following her through her Navy journey so far in the DEP Group, the Boot Camp Group, The Pensacola Group and now it appears I will be haunting this group soon.
The Tiger cruise was awesome! Sleeping in the rack the boat rocks you to sleep. I got my sea legs right away but I didn't get my land legs back for a couple of days.
Drove up to Bremerton the next weekend To Bring my son his car and hung out with him a couple of more days. Then he got leave and came to cal. for some more time to hang out. Now hes headed back to base Im proud of my son His birthday is next week Im glad we got to hang out for a short time.
1) Tiger cruise on return from deployment (if they have one)
2) We don't publish dates...remember OPSEC guidelines?
3) Your sailor is the ONLY one that can apply and sign you up.
4) Read through past posts in the Tiger Cruise group for hints and stuff....
5) The Stennis just had one....you've got awhile to wait
Gary B I think you can get there by going to www.nytimes.com/2012/02/27/us/a-warship-returns-with-the-family-in-...
Try this and if you can't just go to www.nytimes and under the search put in the date 2012/02/27 and write article by C.J.Chivers Hope this helps, let me know if you don't get it and we will try something else.
Lynn, Would you be able to post the link to the article? I saw a chief from one of the destroyers, the Wayne E. Meier at the SD airport. He said lots of Tigers were sea sick.
What a great time on the TC!!! Spending time with our son and gaining an even greater appreciation for our military men and women, by far one of the best things I have done in my life. I just wanted to say that if you don't take advantage of this awesome opportunity once in your life (your sailor's career) you will miss out, I have a ton of pictures to upload. Also I wanted to thank Richard Holland for introducing himself to me, it was great to actually meet another Navy Dads.com'er! We were able to talk a little bit over a cup of coffee on board and saw each other a couple time after that, hope we can do it again Richard!!!! Our oldest is now getting ready for his TC on the Vinson, my wife wishes she could go but is in between jobs at the moment. I made a framed holder for my earned TC memorabilia which includes the TC Warfare pin, I will try to post my pictures soon ;-)
Mike looking at the Cruiser or Destroyer, I am not sure which one it is reminds me of how they were bobbing up and down in rough waters the day of the air show. I was so thankful to be in the Carrier. My husband read an article that was in an International newspaper about our cruise. It said that while we were traveling that there were two storms and that 75% of the Tigers on the Cruiser and Destroyers were seasick. Again I was so thankful to be on the carrier as it was a whole lot steadier. All in all I will never forget it! Really learned so much from the 40 page "Scavenger Hunt". Found nearly every crook and nanny of the ship and enjoyed the concerts and talent show.
Good morning!
Very nice photos!! Very glad for all of you that could go to TC and share with our sailors!!
God bless our sailors in all they do and keep them safe!!
My son wants, when the time comes, to sign in again...I was expecting that...
