posted in the Tiger Cruise group a a ways back
Tiger Cruise post from the Abraham Lincoln:
Tigers,
We can't wait to have you on board! To help you pack, our Tiger Cruise coordinators created a list of what you should bring, and what you shouldn't.
Please remember operational security - Tiger Cruise dates can not be posted online.
Space onboard the ship is extremely limited. You will have to store all of your personal belonging under your “rack”, the approximate measurements are 7’ x 4’ x 8” (that is 8 inches). Large roller type bags are extremely hard to store, and it is highly recommended that you bring a bag that can collapse and fit into your storage area. The ship is not responsible for any lost/stolen items so please store your items correctly and lock them up. For specific question please contact your sponsor.
- Toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, just the essentials.
- Two (2) bath towels and (2) wash cloths.
- Bathrobe to travel to and from shower.
- One pair of shower shoes/rubber slippers.
- Clothing as appropriate.
- Raincoat or warm jacket to use as windbreaker.
- Shoes – preferably hard sole leather such as work shoes, hiking boots or sneakers with good soles. Open-toed shoes and heels are not authorized for wear around the ship.
- Camera.
- Small flashlight – berthing areas are typically dark.
- Sunscreen and sun glasses.
- Medication – motion sickness pills/patches, aspirin, ibuprofen, peptobismol. ***Any and all prescription medication – the ship is not equipped to provide prescription medication to Tigers.***
- A lock for your locker.
- Although there are laundry services aboard, bring enough clothing for a week.
- A pair of shorts will be appropriate for some of the planned activities; long pants are best for normal wear. In any event, nothing fancy will be needed on board.
- Due to limited space, bring only one medium-sized suitcase. A sleeping bag is recommended, but linen and blankets will be provided.
- Spending money (cash only, ship’s stores do not accept credit cards) – to purchase snacks and memorabilia.
- Reading material – Although there will be plenty of planned activities, you may also have some down time.
Items NOT To Bring On the Tiger Cruise
- Firearms, knives or explosives.
- Alcohol (prohibited by law aboard U.S. naval vessels).
- Food – a variety of snack items can be purchased at the ship’s store at a nominal cost.
- Large or expensive jewelry (large jewelry tends to catch on various protruding objects around the ship).
See you soon!

When our sailor joined the Navy, a family member advised him to "work hard and be invisible!" Not completely bad advise, but sometimes I think it makes him not want to ask questions. So..he says he hasn't received a list of what I am to bring on the trip. I have found some basic info on this site, but if there is a list, I would love to receive a copy. I am so excited to leave for Hawaii on Tue & hope to connect with other Navy Dads there. Thank you.
I would think conditions change and the only true guidelines you should go by are by what your sailor communicates to you...he will know the latest and greatest....
My son told me a couple of months ago I needed a sleeping bag then told me I didn't a few weeks ago, can anyone clarify this?
