Good afternoon!
Do somebody have had any emails lately?
Seems we have another group onboard with a bunch of newbies who don't know how to pick up after themselves or keep their berthing area clean. SO -- another group is in the "non-food" -- "don't send food from home" status -- and yep, it's Nukes. Sucks, since we had planned some really neat stuff for them to finish out the year. Thinking of just sending poppers, bubbles and a few decorations for New Year's Eve. Not sure how we can get back cookies that are already in the mail. And YES -- under this they can/do and have made them open boxes from home in front of COs and confiscate all food items sent -- period. Just frustrated with situation for them right now. Understand fully why it has to happen. Earlier in deployment this happened with upper decks /airwing (not marines attached to ship, but ship's sailors) and yes, even though sailors were losing lots of weight, all food items were confiscated and thrown out -- sucked big time for some of the families spending money they don't have to have things thrown out. But, that is the way of the military at times. Follow the rules and you don't suffer. Buck the system -- and everyone pays. Have to rethink Christmas package now and Cookie Exchange for those that haven't sent anything yet. Sincerely hope this won't affect them receiving gifts from the N4M Holiday Project for this year.
We also have a Christmas Cookie Exchange going on for the ship. Moms are making big batches of cookies -- without butter -- and packing them up so they can share different kinds with their buddies. It seemed like another way to send a little bit of home and the holiday to them. With the long hours and hard work the calories in the stuff won't even affect them.
I have been very active with projects for the JCS. I made and shipped several pillowcases to the ship for that project. Sent 50 halloween bags for the Nukes halloween great pumpkin night and also just sent 50 holiday bags, 10 female & 40 male. Each gallon bag was filled with necessities and also some fun stuff. I'm sure some of you have visited the N4M site, there is alot of info about projects/stuff we are doing/have done for the JCS and also the strike force if your interested. The facebook page of JCS is awesome for photos & shout outs, also info is on there. Heard there will be 2 legs of the TC, Hawaii to SD & then SD to Bremerton.
Son was working nights over Thanksgiving, he was able to have the dinner but he missed the swim call a couple of weeks ago - said he'd rather sleep :(. There'll be other chances.
Whoa there Robert....that violates OPSEC by giving details on ship movements....I'm gonna edit the exact dates out...............sorry but we have to always watch for security issues.....
My son also missed the Thanksgiving dinner. He was working nights on the flight deck and said it was all gone by the time the got to it. I told him we would cook a full Turkey Dinner next time he is home.
so my son indicated that the tiger cruise will be Feb XXth thru the XXth. On board in Hawaii and off in San Diego. Anyone else hear anything like this?
Thanks
Rob

Did you see the one about "The Story of the First Thanksgiving . . . well, sort of" -- It is hilarious!!!! Another thing to look for is their show "The Watch" -- that's pretty funny too. The first episode was a little rough, but they've worked out all the kinks. Your welcome.
