Mother:  I heard a little blip from mine -- he came up for air. Said lines for net are really, really long.  FB page was updated for JCS. Glad they got some "land time" for a little while.  Now back to business. :)

Ron,

Our son is on the Stennis and they are just a little over half way through the deployment and should be back early spring to WA. ;-)

OH -- don't forget to go to the ship's website and have him sign up for a sponsor and check out the Welcome section.  It'll make the transition a lot easier.  Glad they finally got the kinks worked out of this and the instructions match up with other changes.

She is out. BUT -- they're getting the feel of dry land for the first time in a few months.  Lots of putting around on the big blue in lots of circles.  Steel beach picnics. Jumping off a perfectly good ship into deep blue waters.  Be sure to join the facebook page for the ship and take a gander at "The Watch".  It's a little show they've come up with that gives updates on what they've been up to.  He'll probably go to WA for processing, and that can take a couple of weeks to get things done and then they may fly him out. Remind him to give you the addy and e-addy before he leaves port -- regular email will be a "no-no", but they do have access to fb pages for updates and things.  Design a code as well so you can discuss ports and things. Make sure there's a POA -- medical and otherwise if necessary.  If he takes a car, it's gonna have to be stored. Most are also turning phones off while out.  Get ship-to-shore phone cards from Nex -- can get from online site.

By the way -- Welcome!

My son graduates from A school tomorrow at Great Lakes as an OS and has been assigned to the CVN 74. He'll be home for Thanksgiving and then deploys for active duty. Just wondering if anyone knows if the ship has been deployed already or if it is still at in Washington?

Thanks for any updates,

Proud Navy Dad

Good morning all!

My son got his Warfare Wings, thanks God!!

He says he is very happy because he wanted to do well, Im very happy for him too!!

He want me to be there, at the harbor, when they return from deployment, his girlfriend parents will be driving to be there too.So I'm looking for info for the nearest hotels in the area, if any of you got some info about this I'll be grateful. I always get sick before flying, aghh! just the idea that I will see him, that helps...
