No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Brandon, I've pleasantly discovered that the bursting sensation you feel in your chest, somewhere in the vicinity of your pounding heart, is thankfully not a heart attack, but full on, bright, shining pride - pride in your son AND in this country; pride for the traditions and character developed and maintained with trust and faith in a system that goes beyond mere politics - a system that throughout the years, has and will continue to represent the best of us.  Blessings to you and your son for his service.

Thanks Paul. If that is correct then will he probably be free all day on the 28th or will they assign him to something?

My SR is with Ship 12 Div 027, PIR 11/27/13. He leaves for A school in San Antonio afterwards. Anyone have any idea as to when he will be required to leave and will he have any free time prior to leaving?

it's a position of responsibility.....so yep!!! While everyone has to know the general orders, he is on-duty and responsible for them as watch leader:

1. To take charge of this post and all government property in view.

2. To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.

3. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.

4. To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guard house than my own.

5. To quit my post only when properly relieved.

6. To receive, obey and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Deck, and Officers and Petty Officers of the Watch only.

7. To talk to no one except in the line of duty.

8. To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.

9. To call the Officer of the Deck in any case not covered by instructions.

10. To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.

11. To be especially watchful at night, and, during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.
