No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Can anyone tell me what week into rtc they got there 2nd call from there recruit?

Wow... I never knew before how much Julia sounds just like her mother on the phone. She just called after week 2 and she is doing great! She cannot stop thanking me for giving her all the pearls of wisdom before she went in Boot Camp- definitely keeping her in good graces with the powers that be. She is following my advice to keep a reverse countdown in her mind these first few weeks so it doesn't sound so bad (i.e.- instead of thinking she has 44 days to go, she counts the 12 days she's already completed). Just a suggestion...

Let her know not to rush the healing. If she does miss her PIR it's not the end of the world. The extra time spent there will go by faster than you think. I wouldn't worry about her getting back to her 900 div. That would only make it harder on her. She just needs to get healthy. The both of you can't worry about the PIR date. Trust me, I've seen it go both ways.

Her scheduled pir is 10-11-13

Just don't get your hopes too high. Not trying to sound negative, but you need to be prepaired to be patient. When is her scheduled PIR?

Oh wow that sounds terrible. I really hope siera heals well and gets out soon. Someone told my.mother-in-law that if she's heals quick enough shw could be put back on her original ship and graduate on time.I really hope that happens

I know of a few that had the same issue. My son graduated bootcamp 7/03/13 div 934. There is a young girl that was in a different div that had to go thru this. She had 4 phases of physical therapy. She rushed thru therapy and fractured it again. Tell her not to rush the healing.

my daughter had serious stress fractures that delayed her PIR 6 weeks....she served 5 years and is now a Navy veteran......keep the faith

Yes . She has a stress fracture. Someone mentioned that she has to phase up to get out of her healing division though
