No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

She already said her pir will be delayed and she won't graduate on time. I'm just worried about her and my mother-in-law is evil incarnate and making me feel like crap and there's nothing I can do to help. I asked her and she just said she needs letters. Lots of letters. Anyone wanna write my wife and keep her mind occupied?

Cody, I believe if her injurys are not serious they will delay her and then she should resume training, she may not be able to graduate with her Division depending on how much time she loses but hopefully she stays healthy and will be able to complete PIR, stay positive Brother!

Cody Baird:  First, I hope her medical problems are taken care of and she heals up.  The military is a lot of "not knowing" for those of us on the outside.  Hopefully, you'll get used to it, because it continues if they're deployed aboard a ship somewhere.  They cannot, because of operational security (OPSEC) say "We're going such-and-such on Wednesday, and won't be back for 18 days." or the like.  You "might" hear about something that has been done, but AFTER it is over and they're clear of the area.

As for the mother-in-law, adopt a variance of a popular NFL sports saying, "Oh, come on, Ma'am!"  With a smile.  :)

Thomas, That is great!

Cody, I believe I read somewhere that if a recruit gets hurt they are put on pause and then will return to training once they are healed.

As for your mother-in-law, I am sorry you are going through that. I hope you realize that it is not your fault. It is really easy for a mother-in-law to strike out at the husband of their daughter when things don't go as they expect. I am guessing, though, that this isn't the first bit of antagonism between you and your mother-in-law.

I just spoke to my Son on Saturday he is in ship 03 div 401 and said he is doing well, he is in week 4 at this point and  he said he has a lot of respect for his RDCs and and division recruits, so far he has no complaints and he is very excited about completing PIR and advancing to A-School to persue his Aviation Electronic Technician Venture. I was very happy to hear that his moral was up and that he was maintaining a positive attitude.

Just got a 3 or 4 minute call from siera..... she's been hurt. Shes in a mew platoon now, pli presume to heal. In the army we had a hold platoon for the injured. She has stress fractures. Idk where. Some drill sergeant was yelling obscenities at her to get off the phone. She won't graduate on time. I'm pretty torn up at this point. My mother-in-law is blaming me she's hurt. Fml
