No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Finally heard from my son yesterday, and he finally got our letters. He sounded great! Can't wait to see him on 1/4/13!

Thanks for the info about the Dec. 21 graduation.  Do they have a choice of going on leave or staying?  My son told us that he wanted to stay up there and prepare for his dive prep course.  This is all so new to us and it's hard to get any information from our recruit....Thanks

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners! Taking top honors for the non-integrated (all-male) divisions was Div. 801, and taking top honors for the integrated (male-female) divisions was Div. 019.

Facebook Friends, some details for those loved ones of recruits graduating Dec. 21:

Those recruits graduating and attending A-school at TSC Great Lakes will check in across the street first and then go on leave from TSC starting on Saturday, Dec. 22nd.

Those recruits graduating and attending A-school OUTSIDE the Great Lakes area will go on leave from here no earlier than 1600 on Friday, 21 December. In coordination with the Great Lakes "Mass Exodus," MWR will bus these recruits to the Midway and O'Hare airports only.

No parents are allowed to ride on the buses which are provided to Active Duty military only. However, parents are authorized to pick up their Sailor and take them home or transport them to the airport.

The leave period for all recruits will end on 30 December. Itineraries for each recruit will need to be emailed to an address that your recruit will provide for you.

Gary, hopefully you had a great thanks giving with your other son.  I hope the letter is in your mailbox when you arrive home.  Dans letter said that PIR would be on 01/11/13.

Daniel, Our son Zach left the same day as your son. So hopefully we will have our letter from him when we get home today. Our recruiter told us he was in div 58 ship 11. But we are waiting for letter to make sure since I have read that the info the recruiters get sometimes change. I will let you know what div he is in when we get home. We are currently visiting our other son for thanksgiving.
