No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Jeff, when did your Son arrive at Boot?  I think he may be in the same group as my Son Daniel.  Dan left on 11/14/12 and we received his SIB this week.  We have not received his letter to date.  Joe, we were waiting all day for a call as well and thought that being a holiday they may be able to call.  We didnt get one either :(

your recruiter mis-spoke.  Check this link and you'll see 048 is on Jan 4 http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp

We finally got a letter from our son...yesterday. It was great to hear that he was doing well. He is in 012/048, tritton. I spoke with the recruiter and he said that PIR was on the 5th of Jan, 2013. I was under the impression that PIR's were on Friday's, not Saturday's.... any thoughts or info would be appreciated...Happy Thanksgiving to all

want to remind everybody of RTC's guest policy:

The following RTC policy will be enforced for all graduations beginning with the January 4th, 2013 PIR.  ALL GUESTS, including Active Duty/Retired Military Personnel, and those aged three and older MUST be on the access list. (Please note: Children two and under do not need to be on the access list.)

Gary you should receive the form letter via USPS. Keep that safe as it contains important info...

Just received the box today. No letter though. Hopefully soon. Surprised by how fast box got here. Our son left Wednesday and got it today. Can't wait to see him at PIR.

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners! Taking top honors for the non-integrated (all-male) divisions was Div. 015, and taking top honors for the integrated (male-female) divisions was Div. 010.

Captain's Cup is a fun, friendly athletic event held the Saturday prior to graduation for those divisions set to graduate. Events include activities such as basketball, volleyball, relay races and more.
