No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Incredibly difficult after all you've been through. Thoughts are with you.
Perhaps you could get more info from the recruiter?

Richard,
My heart just sank reading your post. I can only imagine the emotional roller coaster you've been on as my son was a Depper for almost a year as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son.

Hey Bob,
Our daugther just left 11/24. Be strong for your child, let her know you believe in her. Re-iterate "you can do this" to her. It's hard. But like I told Lee - she will have a better life ahead, because of this. We just got the return box yesterday, & the first letter went out this morning. Lee knows that God & Guns is what this country was founded on...She also knows once she's a sailor, she will not be scared when she holds a bible & a gun. She also knows this Navy is the BEST in the world, and she will be a whole part of that.....

God Bless our children!

read the back posts as many have gone before you with the same worries. Apply yourself, key on details, help your shipmates form a team, be positive and believe that you will excel and you will...............many have taken this road before......

My daughter leaves for Boot in one week. She is so anxious, both to get started and about what she will encounter when she gets there. We are all a little afraid of the unknown and I want to be able to reassure her that everything is going to be OK as long as she applies herself. I know thousands of people have successfully completed what she is about to begin. I'm looking for wise "Dad" words of wisdom to pass along. Any ideas?

Good Luck Larry - I hope you hear something soon from him. Jim, if your recruiter cannot get you the addy, call his CO, and keep moving up the ladder from there until you get it - you should know by now.....Good Luck!

Isn't it hard to be patient?? We are expecting John's call after PIR and it's just as hard as waiting for that first letter or call.

Congrats, Brian...still no word here, but I'm sure we'll hear this afternoon.
Then again...his recruiter didn't seem to have all the lights on at times.

Getting that first word is exciting. Congratulations.

Jim,

We just got word on Lee, she's on Ship 10, Div#074...writing away as soon as I get off here. Good luck today - let me know where Chris is, I guess you & I have the new recruits on the block...lol! Your recruiter should get back to you very, very soon!!!
