No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Your time will go so fast. I can't believe we have traveled so far from that tired 1 am call to the tired 30 minute "I'm a sailor" call that we got today.

We got the "I'm a sailor " call this afternoon!!! Div 13 and 14 both have passed battlestations. Very hoarse and very tired but relieved and excited to be done. It was great talking to him. It has been 3 1/2 weeks since our last conversation.

You all know that the Navy is run by the Chiefs, when will the Senior Master Chief of Travel tell our son what he has in store for him after graduation?
He is supposed to go on the Nuc ET school.
And we all know that nothing is final till you have orders in hand and that is subject to change!

Only 2 weeks before PIR 12/4. We got another letter this past Thurs. Quite a few in ship 11, div 018 are down with the nasty flu. Some SRs who are in the front marching unit have had to be replaced due to the flu. Thank goodness, my son already had it in the beginning and is doing better. Anyone else out there with a son in ship 11, div 018?
