Or it could be at any time. My daughter called at 1:00 AM when she arrived, she had her cell phone with her and we talked before she got there and all but it was a few hours before she called from the RTC.

Mike--- if they have any phone issues or problems, you may not get a call. It's been said a thousand times here...no news is good news! Keep the faith, get your address info from the recruiter in a couple of days and start your letters!!

Mike, dont expect the call right away. He may not make the call until early in the morning. It all depends on how quickly they get through in-processing and how many bodies there are to process. If your like us, the son called his GF and then she called us.........remember, it will be a short 8 weeks or so and then PIR.

Our son Wes touched down at O'hare tonight at 8:05pm and should be getting to Great Lakes RTC soon to begin basic training, after that, AECF training there too. We have not received "the call" yet, but we are standing by the phone. The past few days have been the most emotional times (good, but sad) my wife and I have ever experienced with both of us crying on a regular basis. We miss him big time. We didn't realize how deep our feelings for Wes was. Being our only son, we are quite close to him and wish him all the best. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

I had received my son's 2nd and last letter before i got his first. He said for some reason mail to the East Coast was always screwed up. He did however receive all his mail in a timely manner, usually 2 or 3 days after I had sent it.

Murphy, It took 3 weeks for us to get a letter, then we got 8 at one time. You should be seeing some soon.

My son arrived in GL on 9/16 and his graduation date is 11/13. Still waiting for a letter.

This doesn't answer the question but it is a motto that I was always told to follow when discussing anything with my sailor. "The Navy does what the Navy does, and then do it when they want too!" All dates are subject to change so be prepared to work around it. Sorry, I know it doesn't help much, but it helped me keep my sanity through boot and "A" school.
