No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Yay! I just heard from my work and I will be able to go to PIR so that's way cool. Gonna go book my flights now!

I love those commercials and yes "It is sooo on"! Thanks. There is one kinda bummer though. We get four tickets but we have to go on base in one car. That means we have to go in with my Ex and her friend. Talk about "Taking one for the team";)

Kirk, good news and I'm glad you heard from Holly. As far as going to PIR, as the new Southwest commercials say: "It's on!" I know you'll find a way.

AAARRGGHH!! Holly called today and I missed it. I gave her my cell number to use to make sure I got any calls but she used the home number instead. At least I have a voicemail to listen to. She sounds good and her attitude is solid. She was having some difficulties but she says she's on track for graduation with her division. She's half way done now. Time is flying by. Unfortunately, I still don't know if I can go yet.

OK. I just went back out to the car with a box of kleenex. I'll be prepared. I should know better, I cry when the star spangled banner is played.

Otto, I went to my son's PIR May 15th. He was at the door handing out programs so I saw hin right away, got to say Hi and went to sit down. I thought I would cry when I sawe him , but I didn't. So I thought Wow I guess I will be okay. Guess what I was wrong. When they dismissed them and I was on the floor and saw him comming over to see me
I gave him a big hug and cried like a baby, and guess what I wasn't alone, so let it flow. Show nevereyone how proud you are.

you will Otto...I tried to tough it out twice for my daughter and then son....no joy!! So take the tissues and let it flow because they will be tears of joy and pride!!

I just hope I don't cry, darn it.

That's all right Jim . . . too much stuff to absorb in a short period of time.

On mail . . one of the quirky things our son told us - they get incoming mail
on any day. Out going mail goes out Sundays only = at least that's what it was in his Division during BC.

Otto - enjoy PIR . . . others the day will come and it will be the best. . . .
