No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Hi Jeffry. My son Michael is also in Division 930. He is singing tenor in the choir. Mike told me that they were marching in today's parade.

I hadn't heard about the Memorial day parade but it is standard for the honor division to perform the 2 graduations prior as well as their own. George sang bass in high school however not every day you get a Tuba player in the division

Congratulations George and to your son as well. Eric is in the choir and sings bass. He also plays bass and drums too (not for the Navy). A Navy Mom reported that the 930th will be performing in 3 PIRs and marched in a Chicago Memorial Day parade Saturday 23rd. Do you know anything about this?

Jeffery, welcome to the Navy Boot Camp group. The guys and gals on this group are here for you, so if you have questions or just need to share some news about Corey during his stay at RTC, this is the place. The great Navy journey has just begun for your son and your family. Getting "the box" is kinda tough sometimes, but it means your son is now in good hands.

Congrats Kieth. Chicago is a great town to visit and the food.."oooh sooo good" as the TV Chef puts it. Good luck to your son at A school. Ft Leonard Wood is some really pretty country. Thanks to your son and to your family for their service to this country.
