No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Well ,PIR was great we had a great time in Chicago. We saw a Cubs game, we visited the Navy Pier And ate great food while we where there. We stayed at a Residents Inn by Marriott, It was a real nice place if anyone needs a hotel to stay at while there for PIR. We are so proud of not only our son but to everyones sons and daughters graduating . Our son is now at Fort Leonard Wood for his A school. He now has his Cell phone and Ipod ,he is a happy camper, I'll keep in touch . A Big Thanks to Everyone

Larry thanks for the info on the Divisions. My son is in 210 and he said they were going to work hard on drill to get that last flag. Thanks for your thumbs up! I'm sure your experience at PIR was a moving one. I can't wait for 6/5 PIR

Hey Folks
P.I.R. was great. We are waiting for James' Liberty to begin now. Wanted to let the dads of div 220 know we saw them marching yesterday looking good and today we saw 210 marching proud. We gave them both a thumbs up to let them know we are thinking of them also. Congrats they are progressing.

jalex,
Typically, the PIR graduates will only get the following Monday included in their liberty when graduation falls on a holiday weekend such as Memorial Day. They will probably keep your son busy with things to do regarding his relocating to A-School, standing watch, or just general duties that need to be done.
Good luck to your son in A-School.

I noticed on the Grad sheet that Sunday liberty ends at 20:00, but I was just wondering since he is staying until Tuesday if he would receive liberty Monday also. I will check with him.

Thanks!

As I remember liberty typically ends Sunday at 18:00, but that was a couple of years ago and the memory fades..............

Good day! It looks like my son will not leave for A School until the Tuesday after PIR. Do any of you know if liberty is granted on Monday? Or, is that kind of like a normal "work" day?

Thanks!

Those going to PIR . There will be a video available for a fee through the NEX. Best way is to be sure your son or daughter orders ahead of time.
Lighting and distance can be a challenge in the hall. . . No matter where you sit - it will move you ! !

Mike Thanks for the offer on the pictures. Yes low brass is not the easiest to get pics of. In high school it was easy he was the tallest thinnest and blondest... all not so unique anymore... thanks again

Hello all,

My son Brendan doesn't leave for boot camp until October 7, 2009, He has to wait until he graduates HS. He will be going into the Corpman field but still undecided as to which part of it. He will be going in with his EMT-B and 240 Firefighting card. My question is do these offer him any immediate advancement upfront.
