No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

The latest from George. He will not be grad and go. He leaves on Tuesday after Graduation (so far as he has been told). He has been informed of his Language he will be studying. They are definitely having Cinderella liberty after graduation home with the street lights basically. He is really enjoying himself. For those like me who waited too long there are no rooms at the Navy lodge at Glakes for that weekend.

Congrats to all! NavyDads is here for you as your sailors move on to A-school and the fleet....believe me after having two sailors in the family that the questions don't stop......

Alan, congrats to your sailor too. Isn't it neat to say "sailor" instead of "recruit"? Best of luck to Drew and you and your family. Go NAVY! HOOYAH!

Larry that is fantastic news! You must be so proud. Congrats to James! The journey begins in earnest now. Good luck to you and your family. Keep us informed about PIR.

We got "the Call". We are now theproud parents of a Sailor! James called his Mom on a bad phone. She saw the 847 area code answered it and could hear nothing. It disconnected and rang again, she answered and could not hear a thing again. She told him if he could hear her to go to another phone. Then hung up and cried. A minute later it rang again she answered and heard "You are the parents of a U.S. Sailor". She got to talk to him for about 45 minutes then He called me at work and I got to talk to himfor 30 minutes. What a great day we have had!

Well tonight is the night. Battle Stations! Begins @ 8:30 from what we have heard. To top it off for the first time we received no letter today which only adds to the suspence. We cannot wait for "The Call"

George doesn't share a lot about everything that is going on. George is frustrated as well. Not sure how George did on the quals but he is still there so must have done ok. I don't go into much detail just in case his bosses monitor the web for dirt., "Nice try fellas" they would be getting mash'd if they were perfect, that is just the way it goes. talk to you soon
