No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

when he checks in ask at the tickst counter...explain the situation and most of the time you can get a security pass that will allow you to go through the check point (yes...you'll have to stand in line and get checked out..) and onto the gate area with our sailor.

Be advised, the threat level is elevated right now and security is tight- you may not be able to get a pass right now but check.

Hello Navy Dads: Need a little information if anyone knows about Grad-n-Go. My son will PIR 1may09 and he is a Grad-n-Go. He thinks he will go to the Airport to fly out about two hours after PIR. Question: I've heard scuttlebutt something about the USO can help us get through security at the airport to be with him until his flight leaves. Does anyone have any information concerning this? Greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks

EG The link on the right for Navy Insignias takes you to a site called Goldstar. Looks like a air conditioner and humidifier site> have tried it several times ,trying to show my wife the insignias. Went to another site

We received Mike's box today. We let our dog, Ace, get into his clothes and he fell asleep next to them.

John, My daughter was in Ship 7. We addressed things to USS Chicago. However, her division was 128.

Thanks! I did find out that Mike's recruiter made a mistake. Mike is in Division 930, Ship 6 - same as George.

The description you found of 900 is interesting. Mike has no band and no choir experience. I guess he convinced someone he would be good at drill:)

John
