No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

John found this online describes 900 div

During "P Week," you'll be asked if you have any experience (or interest) in drill, musical instruments, or singing. If so, you may be assigned to a "900 Division." These special recruits get to do pretty much everything the other recruits in boot camp get to do during their nine weeks, but also practice to put on shows at events such as parades, and recruit graduation ceremonies. 1992MSSN1995, a member of our Message Forum, briefly describes his experience as a member of a "900 Division:
"Things may have changed since I went through, but probably not that much. I was in a "Triple Threat Company" as part of the 900 Division. We had the recruit Band, Choir, and Drill Team. We did the same things everyone else did, plus we had practices on top of it all. As far as special priveledges you don't really see anything with exception of at times you may be escorted off of the base to perform in parades, and or concerts on occassion. We performed at the German Fest in Milwaukee and a couple of parades, plus we performed at a couple of graduations past week 4.

Just received the form letter from my son, Mark, with his address. Is anyone's recruit in DIV 213 USS ARIZONA? He arrived late last Monday, 4/13.

I am fairly sure Mike is in Drill. The only band Mike played was Rock Band:)

Could be, maybe Mike is in Drill and George is Band. Any thing is possible at Boot.
My sons recruiter is lacking most of the time but I think he could at least get the numbers correct... then again who knows.

Mike's recruiter said that he is in Division 930 and in Ship 7. Is that possible that they could be in two different ships? The ship is the USS Constitution. Possible the recruiter made a mistake??

John:
George is in 930 Ship 6. My son was a Music Major prior to enlisting and 900 division is your drill team Band and Chorus performers for graduations and whenever the need arrives

if you get off of I-94 at Us41 you will eliminate the tolls and get to see a little and it too will run you into buckley. You will definately want a car as most of the restaurants are out in Gurnee as well as Six Flags. The speed limit on 41 is 55 most of the way.
