No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Coach D

From what I recall, processing times were approximate so it may be that the Mar. 27 date will be valid but it would be best to wait and make sure before making any plans.

It looks like Div. 142 will PIR the week following 141, so please post any definite info when you receive it.

Thanks!

We also got Steven's info today from his recruiter and his address in the mail. Boy that was quick. He is in Ship 11 Division 141. According to the RTC website it says the graduating date for his division is March 27. We had thought it would be April 3rd. That woul dhave been the 8 weeks + 1 week for processing. Could that be right on the website or could it be a mistake??? Has anyone had this happen before... Just trying to get a accurate date barring any set-backs.

Thanks

John, Your sons first week of basic will be for processing. (P-Week). The next eight weeks will be training. Ex 01, 02, 03 through 08. The o8 week will be his final week. The Friday of that week would be his PIR. Barring any delays I would guess the date to be 12/June. Don't worry until he leaves for RTC. It will become easier once he ships.

How would I find out when my son's PIR is? He will be heading to RTC April 15.

Thanks!

Got Aaron's info today from his recruiter, he is in Ship 11, Division 142. Just sent out a load of mail for him, hope it makes the first Mail Call!

Thanks for all the info, his recruiter was able to get the address to me as soon as I called him this morning.

If you hang on to your green parking pass when you bring your sailor back use the gate closest to the nex. The guards let us through and you can drop them off at the parking lot used at graduation.

Ted, I want to thank you for your information. I will definitely follow your advice and would like to wish you and your sailor the best.
