No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Paige, I want to thank you for your wonderful response. Yes, we do have big plans for the PIR! I have asked Nicholas to invite any friends who have no family at graduation. We will adopt them for the week-end, eat, take pictures and just show them all how much we appreciate there service.

Hi all,
My son Chris arrived at GL on 1-28 and we got the box on Monday and our first phone call yesterday the 4th. We miss him dearly but are so very proud of the decision he made to be Navy.

Coach D, my son Aaron arrived at GLakes on Tuesday, and is currently in Processing. Maybe they will end up in the same division...

Sunny Pensacola.......................my son disagrees, it's only 41 there right now and it was in low 30's overnight. He said he would rather be back here in Ohio, atleast here it snows when its cold down there he says its all cold rain.

Michael if you got a letter in two weeks then your son’s division must be working together well. Good for him!

Thanks Paige, yes we are extremely proud. We are going to see him as soon as he can leave the base.

Robert,
Congratulations to your son for his recent PIR!! I know you are very proud of him. How nice it will be for him to be in sunny Pensacola. It's a nice time of the year to go there.

Michael,
I'm glad you got your first letter and that he is doing well. You will be filled with anticipation every week about this time waiting for the next one to arrive.

Ted, congratulations to you and your son! I was just there last weekend myself. I think you will have much warmer weather than we did. My son arrived in Pensacola this past Friday and said he thinks he is really going to like it there. Have a safe trip.
