No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

ECS is primarily for MAs out of RTC, or those sailors who get assigned to Coastal Riverine Groups (CRGs). Some MAs go there right of A School, or down the road as my son did. But other Rates are involved with the CRGs; it takes sailors from across the Rates to create versatile teams.

At one time ,I read sailors go to expeditionary combat skill training school in Mississippi, following basic - does the Navy still do this, or is it something a sailor does later in their training career ?

Got a letter yesterday from my SR - he is in div 808 and referred to treading water in a "bee hive" told me to see if I could find video because it would give me a laugh. Anyone know what he is talking about? He is doing great and has been made a section leader. PIR 3/14

Another Snowy Day at RTC:
The graduation on Friday will occur on schedule. Besides a few stragglers, all other recruits are inside training.

The RDCs will do everything in their power to help SRs pass. Only your SR can tell you otherwise. Always remember and assume that no news is good news... Hang in there!

I have a question, If a sailor fails a test and then takes the retest and fails that one. When do they call to tell you they are in another DIV and their new PIR date. I am hoping to GOD that I don't get that phone call, But I am stressing over waiting to find out if I get that call. Please give me some help.
