No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Has anyone gotten the "I'm a Sailor" phone call today - 10/25/16?

I received the "I'm alive" call from Ryan 1am this morning. He sounded good. He said we will receive a call and letter in 3 weeks.

So true Paul. I would not say empty threat. But more motivational tactic. And I would not let your recruit in on the motivational tactics used by the RDC. Your little secret. Just encourage them to hang in there and keep pushing. I remember hearing similar from parents posting and when I asked my son, he did not seem worried. Some kids need to be pushed harder. They are good at what they do. Their goal is to get your kid through and make them their best. Trust them and your kid. It all will be over with before you know it.

A division WILL NOT get held back....

Comment by David Derocher on October 10, 2016 at 4:10pm

lol.  The good ol 'front leaning rest position'...  especially joyous with a pack on your back... airborn/ranger school adds putting your feet up on a tree...  the alternative to not holding it was much, much worse...

Craig B....just a little sea story for you when I was in bootcamp.  We were all getting cycled one afternoon (back in my day they called IT cycling), but anyhow, we had been at it for about 45 minutes.  We were all sweating, grunting, crying...it was horrid...lol.  Our Company Commander (RDC), had us in the push-up rest position, we had been there for about two minutes or so, everyone was falling, putting their butts in the air etc, when our CC got mad and yelled "You guy's keep this up and I'll take your citizenship away!!"  No we all know that's not true, but I used this to illustrate what David said about not reading into much that the RDC's threaten them with.  It will all work out, just stay positive about it!

I had a similar issue with my supervisor about wanting dates solid to plan by. I told him I could not give him any. And I would not miss a once in a life time opportunity. I will say this. The one thing that helped me. I read a post by an admin on navy moms. It is rare they fail BS 21. So if week 7 rolls around and you have not heard that her PTA requirement have not been met, I would say going into that last week, I would bet the house on your kid.
