No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Carri my gut tells me you'll be fine... On our form letter my son had his step mom listed as Alexis, but on her driver's license it's printed as her full name MAALEXIS (which is really Maria Alexis). We had no probs...

my middle name is spelled Carris, which is how it is listed on my license, pass port etc. , I always go by Carri.

Carri, Is your middle name (which you go by) printed on your license?

PIR question? On the form letter that we got from our SR listed my middle name (which is what I go by) and not my full name. My full name is on my license, so is this going to cause a problem with getting through security at PIR?

Congratulations John P.!  Awaiting my SR's PIR 8 FEB, S14D093.  I can only imagine your pride and honor you experienced on that important day for your son and family; I feel it even as I write.  It has been a relatively quiet last few weeks regarding communication from our SR but I gather things are ramping up with less time for writing.  As I understand, no news is good news at this point.  We keep writing daily.  Also, for those writing frequently, and sometimes mailing multiple letters to your SR concurrently, my SR asked that we mail them together as with each mail call they get, they are asked for some information or a question regarding their training.  There may be some "non-positive" order or enforcement in the event they reply incorrectly.  Each day we all get closer to

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners! Taking top honors for the non-integrated (all-male) divisions was Div. 075, and taking top honors for the integrated (male-female) divisions was Div. 069.

Captain's Cup is a fun, friendly athletic event held the Saturday prior to graduation for those divisions set to graduate. Events include activities such as basketball, volleyball, relay races and more.

hello all, well i have to say that i was super proud of my son on friday watching from the stands during pass in review.it was a moving experience from start to finish. we were lucky enough to stay on the base, which i would recommend highly.you'll need to get background checked 2-3 weeks prior but your right there.plan to spend alot of time in the airport the following nite/morning. we were at airport from 3:30 till 10:30 saturday morning and nothing opens till 5-6. my son was in division 68 and if anyone's son/daughter was in that division and has good pictures please reach out because my camera crapped out during the PIR. overall for the parents going, it's a great place and a great ceremony.
thanks to the U.S.Navy for the great hospitality!!!
