No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

I'm sure the RDCs have an idea about each recruit....however, there is a formula they use for all the recruits---beat them down mentally for about 2 1/2 weeks and then start to build them up again like the Navy wants.  The only have 8 weeks and it is not a summer camp...all the recruits will do it the same way.........the motivation is simple...do it the Navy way

QUESTION -  How much do RDC's examine the personnel files of those in their division and how much do they know about the SR's backgrounds? Just curious as to how they go about the job and how much they know about these kids when working with them?

There are funny things that happen.  In our daughter's PIR a couple years back, they showed short video/glimpse at what the recruits went through from picking up their gear the first night to things in the barracks, training, etc., and there was one young man precisely - PRECISELY - folding a shirt on the floor before storing it under his bunk.  Suddenly this female voice rang out, "Why Jeremiah, you never folded a thing in your life!"  Great laughter in the hall.  Our daughter learned to take six-minute showers, too.

on a more serious note, it is a test of his leadership abilities.....think Eric learned that yelling at someone is not the best way to modify behavior....or to keep the head clean!!!

His mother says it is poetic justice that our Max is now in charge of making sure the bathroom is clean. A lot of yelling at home to get him to clean his own.

yeah....my son was master at arms for his division....had his mom and I rolling on the floor with laughter recounting his yelling at the other recruits about their bathroom habits!!!!  Don't know if Chili's in Gurnee will let us in the restaurant again!!!

Thank you! Any personal info/experience? Our SR was made Master at Arms.
