No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Starting to panic a little ? My son is in division 346 yet parents from divisions 347-348 have already started to receive I'm a sailor calls ? Do they not thru Bs21 numerically as a training group ? Arrrrgh.

Oh, man.  Gary, you're never done now = " now so many emotions are starting to rise again in anticipation of seeing . . ." which brings back April, 2010, when our daughter had her PIR.  And we've been lucky to do a Tiger Cruise with her, too.  But the pride, not only for her but all the other relatives of people on here is overwhelming.  Week after week.

Just hang in there, it does get better.  Some of the time.  LOL!  Our Navy girl (the oldest of three daughters) is currently in her home port, so we get emails and text messages usually several times a day.  Now the other two girls are in college, working (a couple jobs each), and we really hear more often from the one serving our country than the other two.  It isn't just the service which places demands on our children.

Some days are harder than others...through the facebook pages I have found for my RC' division, I found out some of them made phonecalls last week, I however, did not recieve one...and today, when I usually get her mail she wrote on Sundays, and there was no letter, I'm a little heartbroken...I know they're busy, I know its normal not to hear anything, but its still going to be a rough day, with no letter....maybe tomorrow....
