No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

No more SR, he is now FN, 3rd generation Navy, Sharpshooter and Hall of Fame Winner. His voice was horrible, hard to talk. BUT HE CALLED HIS MOTHER FIRST, that's my Sailor.
Goin' to the bar tonight...and the airport in the morning. Thank You everyone on this site for helping keep this old man from going STARK RAVING CRAZY....I couldn't have done it without you, especially Paul and Jim, Special Thanks.
Now it's off to Goose Creek for 3 mos. We will get 10 hours at O'Hare to catchup. After 42 years, I'm going back to GL tomorrow.
Hope to see you all on Friday, or Thursday night at Sarge's.

I'm with you Chuck. I have my daughter in BC now and my son will be in BC in June. I'm gonna just make myself a sandwich and kick back here since I will be here for a while.

Hi all my daughter will leave for RTC in a couple of months. She is following her oldest brother in to the Navy.

Vada, I'm going through the excitement and challenges of my son being gone also. It will be three weeks tomorrow that he shipped out. I can not tell you how much eaiser it gets, but it really does. As everyone keeps saying this site is the best source.

I want to thank all that have posted information regarding their sons or daughters experience in boot camp as it has helped me greatly in dealing with the unknown. My son leaves for boot camp on April 5th. It's a trying time for me as I really enjoy the time spent with my son and will miss him greatly but I'm very proud of his decision to serve this wonderful country!
