No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Fair winds, and following seas William
Proud Dad of a new Sailor! Loved Battle Stations. He's exhausted, but sounds excited! Chicago, here we come!
Congratulations William, I still have the road ahead. Got to work this morning missed a call from my son. He was making the call for information needed on his security clearance. I'm glad I have seen this call on the site numerous times, if not I would be wondering if something was missing or wrong. The voicemail was great to even hear his voice. So my wife (his mom) and his wife are putting it all together to send him the FAX. Still wating to find out Div/ship. been 13 days since he shipped.
Just heard from my sailor. Made it through BS21. She said she loved it! Not sure what is wrong with her but will check it out at PIR on Friday:-) It was a tough couple of months but this site and all of you really helped me get through it. Thank you for all of your support and words of encouragement. For those of you whose kids are still on their journey, it will go fast (although at times it may not seem like it. Stay positive and write those letters. I wrote every day and always included some humor and positive reinforcement - she was very appreciative. Onward to A School. Good luck and Go Navy!!
