No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

I know how you feel Greg, I couldn’t wait to hear something, so I called my sons recruiter and he gave me the wrong address, two day later the box and letter came, before you know it you’ll be planning for PIR. My son said he did get all the letters with the wrong address.

Greg, you're either going to have to get the ship and division from your recruiter or wait for the form letter to come with the address. The letter should be one the way....and note if you plan to drive on base for PIR that the password to access parking passes will be on the letter as well.

question my son went to boot on monday it is late friday and I still have not got his mailing address ie: ship or division his recruiter seems to be to busy is there another way to get this info? help

They decided to delay pulling my son’s wisdom teeth until after boot camp, the doctor said his wisdom teeth grew in so close to the main nerve in his jaw, she couldn’t pull them.

very common at Great Lakes....better to have a tooth or two pulled at RTC than have an issue when at sea with no access to adequate dental facilities.

Well I hope the teeth needed pulling and they are not just pulling them because they have them. My son won't be happy about that.

Yeah - our son is on a 10/01 PIR (Div 821) - and I've seen at least 1 in that PIR date that had a wisdom tooth pulled

Hello
My wife has heard from 4 different mothers that their sons have all had their wisdom teeth pulled at bootcamp. Is this a common practice at bootcamp??????
