No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

For all of you parents out there that have youngsters in B.C. now, i was wondering if yours had any reservations about what they were doing there the first week or two. Seems B.C is not what my son was expecting! Some of the letters he writes are upbeat,at least the ones everyone is getting, except what he is telling me in his letters. I am not worried as i think he will be fine, but i am curious. It's been to long since i was in to remember what my thoughts were then. Thank you for your time folks.

We might be a little late also, but I think we're looking at 6:00 PM to 10:00 Pm or something like that. See you there, Bob.

I noticed below that John was talking about Flanigan's. We're meeting there this Thursday night, before PIR on 2/27/09. My wife is actually the person over at N for Ms who put this particular one together. Anybody else going to PIR Friday?

Michael,

Yes - Drops & IT, all fun things to look forward to as a section leader! Also, if you get to talk with Matthew, make sure he does not volunteer for the Ice Cream Social ...

Bobby shipped out yesterday for GL. The Navy had him in a hotel Sunday night and we went over to spend sometime with him. The next morning his twin brother and I went down to the swearing in ceremoney and witnessed him taking the oath. We were all pretty emotional but held it together. Thanks to the Navy for Moms website that directed us to contact his recruiter , we were able to track down his address and being from a large family we plan on flooding him with letters from home. The plan is to ensure he gets serveral daily. We'll keep all udated on his progress.
