No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Jamie, when you received your phone call do you recall the number it came from. My oldest son became a father on 02/02/09. This past week we have been spending a lot of time helping them get established with their new son and may have missed a call. Have checked the caller ID and have not seen a Great Lakes number. Any input would help.

Gary Greg's Div 114 Ship 14 I got a phone call from Greg last night. He's doing good loves the food. He too says that he's not getting a great deal of sleep. He said that he hasn't had any teeth pulled, but got a couple filled. Greg passed the swimming test and said that he was given the phone call because he scored a 4.9 on his first test. Only six more weeks to go.

Jim- I'm quoting Sean, one of our recruiters that donates hs time to NavyDads to answer questions: "His Recruiter does have the abbility to get your sons address and divison number. He is ether being lazy or does not know how to get it. I would look it up for you but his Recruiter is the only one that has access to it. Its on a N avy website and under his recruiters access only." Check wth your recruiter!!

Received the green parking pass today 07 Feb 09. Nicholas has completed three full weeks of training. Hoping for the phone call this week. Nick thought he would be able to call Thursday but I think more likely Sunday. Keeping my fingers crossed. Looks like Div 115 Ship 14 USS Arizona is starting to come together as a Division.

Thanks Paige. It will be my version of an adopt a sailor program. When talkig to my sons recruiter the other day he mentioned the NAVY is talking about or going to implement just such a program. Have to wait and see. I know I'd help. Always wanted a bigger family.

Gary, it is so neat that you are planning to share your family and time with the other sailors who have none. What a thoughtful idea!!! You will make the occasion special for them and they will appreciate it without a doubt. I'm so excited for all of you!! Even though it's been alittle more than 5 months since Billy's PIR, I still watch the DVD of his graduation often like I was watching one of my favorite movies. It does my heart good!
