To better accommodate traffic flow on the day after graduation when families and friends pick up Sailors for liberty, a new traffic plan will direct guests to the parking garage adjacent to the USS Yorktown visitors center, the same place you would park on graduation morning.
Gate 8 (same entrance used on graduation morning) will be open from 6 to 10 a.m. All guests will park in the garage to wait for their Sailors who will meet them there. When dropping off Sailors later in the day, guests will use Gate 6 at Illinois Street and Buckley Road and drop the Sailors off in the chapel parking lot.
Gate 8 will NOT be open to vehicular traffic when returning your Sailors from liberty. Sailors may also be dropped off at Gate 8 to access base on foot via the automated turnstile using their CAC (Common Access Card).
PLEASE NOTE: **ONLY GUESTS WITH GRADUATION TICKETS MAY ACCESS THE BASE WHEN PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF SAILORS TO AND FROM LIBERTY! PLEASE RETAIN YOUR TICKETS FROM GRADUATION.** GUESTS INTENDING TO PICK UP A SAILOR FOR LIBERTY WITHOUT A TICKET WILL BE TURNED AND MAY HAVE TO PICK UP THEIR SAILOR AT GATE 8.
For those family and friends unable to attend RTC graduation, it will be streamed live over the internet at 0845 (CST) on the day of graduation. Please follow the link below and join us in honoring the service of these young men and women.

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners!
Div. 816 took top honors in the non-integrated (all-male) divisions and Div. 936 triumphed in the integrated (male-female) divisions.
Captain's Cup is a friendly athletic event held on the weekend prior to their graduation. The recruits get a free morning to enjoy some fun competition between the divisions in the training group.
Events include basketball, volleyball, relay races and more. There is one winning division for the integrated divisions and one for the non-ingegrated divisions, and each winning division receives a traveling trophy to display in their ships.
from RTC- 26 May 2016:
Please plan your arrival carefully and allow yourself plenty of time to get through traffic, onto the base, and in your seats by 8:45 a.m. Late arrivals are disruptive to this formal military ceremony and therefore, will not be allowed entry.
Also please note: While we do have our chapel opened as an overflow for additional guests who are not on the access list, this only intended as spot for the extra guests who must be on base to have a place to sit and wait. We do play a live stream video of the ceremony, but there are times when technical difficulties prevent this from playing. The playing of the video is merely a bonus for those waiting in the chapel and not intended as the main reason such guests access the base and in the chapel nor is it intended for guests to invite as many others as they wish. Whether the video is playing or not, guests are not permitted to leave the chapel until the conclusion of the ceremony.
If you absolutely do not have to be on base, we respectfully ask that you remain off base for security purposes.
Due to the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Pass-In-Review/Graduation will be held on Thursday, June 30.
We have been made aware that some recruits may have sent home form letters stating July 1 was the graduation date. That is incorrect. Recruits set to graduate that weekend will do so on Thursday, June. 30.
Recruits staying in Great Lakes for "A" School will have liberty Thursday through Monday evening and they must return to the base each night.
Recruits going out of state for "A" School will have only Thursday for liberty or, if there is an issue with ticket availability, they may have Friday. They will not know until they receive their orders during their final week of training, and only they may give out their itinerary details.
Congratulations, Ruth, to your Sailor and your family. Our PIR was in October 2014 - wonderful experience - excellent comments that will certainly assist families as they plan for their Sailor's PIR. ~ Pat
