phone calls from DIV 310 PIR 9/18

I am looking for other Dads who have SR's in DIV 310 USS Arizona, all male push division slated for PIR on Sept. 18.  My wife is one Navy for Moms and seems to get info faster, which is OK, but I would like to get a "heads-up" when my son's DIV gets time for phone calls.  Any of you Dad's can help.  Thanks.

Intel dads

Are there any future or present Intel dads here? Can you give me any advice for my Son Dallas. He ships out for Boot Camp on 1 Dec. He isn't getting ahead of himself. He is curious as to what to expect when he gets to Damneck Va.? Of all of the intel rates what is the best one to get into and ones to stay away from? I have told him one step at a time by get to basic training, getting through basic training, and then on to A school. He understands this, but none the less, curious as I would be… Continue

Getting cold feet

How many parents here have had children get "cold feet" or second thoughts before shipping out to basic training. What did you say or do to change his or her mind? So far so good, but my Son Dallas has until Dec 01 2015 to ship out.

Mothers Fear

I have a beautiful son and a loving husband who help keep me going day to day. I am truly blessed to have something innocent back into my life and so very afraid at the same time.

Growing up parents want to protect their children, help kind of conceal the real terror and horror that is out there in the world. Help give them guidance along the way in any type of situation they may face. Some parents may…

My Sons Swearing-In

Well today definitely falls under the special events category! I had the pleasure of watching my son take his final swearing-in at the Nashville M.E.P.S. center and start his Navy career..

I am very proud of his decision in choosing to serve our great country and it's very exciting seeing him take his first steps to truly becoming a man and standing on his own two feet. Coming from a family of people who have served it's nice to know he will continue that…

Update after six years

What a difference six years makes...

Every year on Father's Day, I think back to Father's Day 2009.  My daughter, Audrey, left for Officer Development School the day before Father's Day that year (see the post several below this one to read about her history).  Every year I think about posting an update here... but then time slips away and it doesn't happen.  Well, perhaps this one will be different - at least I've started it.…

She says ncis is envolved and it is being handled internally by navy but I feel like there should be something else I need to do or should do,where her duty station is there are 70+ cases going on right now, this is an epedimic that has to stop! I literally cried when she told me,she has only been in a year and this happens, any advice would be helpful, thank you!

PIR ID Requirement

I was informed that guests attending PIR need to bring two forms of ID to get on to the base due to the heighten security risk (Bravo) that has been put into place. Besides a drivers license, what would be a second acceptable form of ID?

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome all - great to be here.  My son Matt is in is second week of OCS - he's slotted for pilot training.  If that pans out he'll be in the service 10 years (2 years flight training and then an 8 year commitment.)  I'll be around awhile. :-).

What is ready 6 and basic on a Destroyer?

What is ready 6 & basic in terms of a DDG? These are phases of training & prep. I'm not exactly sure what is meant. Our sailor has been on a DDG 4 mo. They continue to ramp up with more training. Thanks!

Writing Letters to RTC

My son left on April 7th and his mother and I have been writing every day since. We are compiling the letters waiting for his address so we can mail them to him. We have quite a few pages between the two of us and we were wondering if we can put them all together in a large 8x11 envelope so he gets the first batch all at once? From there on in we would mail the letters in a standard envelope as we write them.

BTW. This site is amazing. Tons of great information that brings me…

Just got the I'm here call

We just got the I'm here and will talk to you in three weeks call. It was good to hear he made it safely but he sounded tired. Thanks for the notes and comments. It's good to know you not alone and others feel the same way. It will be good to hear from him in three weeks to see how he is doing.

Just got home from hotel drop off

Well we just got home from dropping my son off at the hotel. It took a long time to get to this new chapter in all our lives starting over a year ago when he sprung the new he was joining the Navy, but he made it. No bells or whistles but lots of tears and hugs. It's a strange feeling watching your little boy turn into a man almost over night. Even though I know he is going to be fine and he is looking forward for what is ahead of him, it's still hard to watch him go. It's also going to be… Continue

I would just like to say a prayer for or lost sailors and pray to keep all or military safe during recent threats

My son will be graduating in a few short months and then I think he is trying to get into some medical class .I think it's so awesome he is way smarter than I was.I think of and pray for our guys daily and ask others to do the same. It's hard not to be personal here but we all need to watch certainly names but also dates.I was wondering if security will be stepped up with recent threats? If so that would make me feel better.I wish all our sailors family's well in these crazy times of the dirtbags… Continue
