No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

RTC Reminder of the Day:

Change in procedure for random photos:

To better give recruits’ families and friends a better idea of what they are experiencing during boot camp, we will begin photographing a weekly series of photos that will focus on an area of their training, such as firefighting, swimming, weapons training, etc.

We no longer will post random photos of just recruits, such as marching or in their compartments. Whichever divisions happen to be present when the photographer is present, those will be the ones who appear in the training photos.

As a regular reminder, we do not take photo requests nor do we keep tabs on which divisions have appeared in photos.

We respectfully ask that everyone please refrain from sending us e-mails and Facebook messages requesting we photograph a specific division as those requests are not honored.

Sarge has provided service for years and can't be beat! The Meet & Greet is a great time to meet other families and have any last minute questions answered....highly recommend!

Can anyone give some advice about Sarge's Taxi Service and the meet and greet? I compared the taxi rates to renting a care and it seems like a pretty good deal in comparison to the car rental. Has anyone used this service? And is it a good value?

same with small laptops. Oh most request a new pack of regular underwear :-) The navy issue isn't very popular after boot camp :-)

He can use it after PIR, just not take it back to his Rack. You will have to keep it when he returns to RDC the evening after PIR, then you give it back to him permanently at the airport once they've been released by the USO official to check in and go to their gate.
Comment by Mark Andreatta on September 4, 2015 at 3:46pm

The only thing we are taking to him at for after PIR is his phone.  And from what you all are saying, I need to meet him at the airport with that.
